Take these steps to resolve ribbon breaking issues:
- Run a self test
- Update the printer ... using commands
- Ensure the correct ribbon type is set in the driver
- Ensure that you are using a... to make sure that the ribbon uptake pulley rivet is in place and has not fallen out
